Mackenzie-Stuart Lecture
CELS hosts an annual public lecture in honour of Lord Mackenzie-Stuart, the first British Judge to be President of the Court of Justice. Among the eminent scholars of European legal studies invited to give the lecture are Professor Joseph Weiler, former Judge David Edwards of the European Court of Justice, and Advocate-General Francis Jacobs of the European Court of Justice. The lectures are published in the Cambridge Yearbook for European Legal Studies.

Annual Visit to EU Institutions
Every year CELS organises an educational visit to the European Institutions in Brussels and Luxembourg, which is open to final year undergraduates and also postgraduate and research students at the Faculty of Law. The institutions visited include the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, and the Court of Justice. Members of these institutions or their staff give presentations and discuss issues of European integration with the students. The visit provides invaluable first-hand experience of EU institutions, which cannot be obtained in the lecture room.
You can read the Report of the 2011 Faculty of Law annual visit to the European Institutions.
