Eleanor Sharpston QCCELS warmly welcomes the announcement on 19 July that Ms Eleanor Sharpston QC had been elected to an Honorary Fellowship of the British Academy.

Eleanor has combined a career in practice at the Bar (specialising in European Union and ECHR Law) with an academic career first at UCL and then in Cambridge where she was a University Lecturer from 1992 to 1998 and an Affiliated Lecturer from 1998 to 2006. She is a fellow of King's College and was previously joint head of Hailsham Chambers.

In January 2006 Eleanor took up the post of Advocate General at the European Court of Justice. She remains a Fellow of King's, and retains her links with the Law Faculty and CELS, where she is a member of the Advisory Board.
