Professor Bill CornishThe British Law Centre in Warsaw, founded by Professor Bill Cornish the first director of The Centre for European Legal Studies (CELS), celebrated its 20th anniversary this year with a conference reuniting alumini, many of whom now hold important posts in their governments, judiciary and practice. The conference, with the theme of "Two decades of change for the UK and Central and Eastern Europe", covered a wide range of issues ranging from European private law, the Fiscal Treaty and the Charter of Fundamental Rights. It was presided over by Lord Carnwarth of the UK Supreme Court and Bill Cornish was the guest of honour.
