Albertina Albors-LlorensThe strength and breadth of the Competition team at the University of Cambridge is highlighted by the nomination of two CELS members, and a number of former PhD students, for a number of high profile awards.

Professor Albertina Albors-Llorens has been included on the academic shortlist as a 'Guide Star' by Women@, a platform for women competition professionals.

Guide Stars are identified as "trailblazers who have reached lead roles or have otherwise inspired with their professional expertise beyond the last five years, and who will typically count some 20 years’ experience in the competition field". Based on the voting, the lists of Five Star Professionals in the UK & Ireland will be revealed on 2 February at the 5th W@ Competition Conference in Brussels.

In addition to her own nomination, two of Albertina's former PhD students Dr Orla Lynskey and Dr Niamh Dunne - both currently Associate Professors at the LSE - have been nominated as 'Rising Stars' who are "up & coming women competition professionals who you expect to achieve notable professional landmarks in the next five years".

Oke OduduAt the same time, Professor Okeoghene Odudu's article on 'Do competition agencies harm welfare?' has been shortlisted in the best 'Business Article' category of the 2023 Antitrust Writing Awards, organized by Concurrences and George Washington University. The aim of the Antitrust Writing Awards is to promote competition scholarship and contribute to competition advocacy.

Oke's article has been nominated for the best 'Business Articles' category in the subcategory 'General Antitrust'. The article can be read online, and voted for, at the awards website.

Professor Odudu's former PhD student Peter Whelan (now Professor of Law at the University of Leeds) is also nominated for his article 'Private Enforcement and the Imputation of Antitrust Liability' in the 'Academic > Private enforcement' category.

The Awards Jury will select one winning article per subcategory and will announce the winners at the awards ceremony on 28 March in Washington DC.
