On Wednesday 15 January, Director of the Centre for European Legal Studies (CELS) Professor Kenneth Armstrong gave evidence before the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee, which was debating the referendum on separation for Scotland.

The meeting of the Committee was reported in the Herald Scotland, which summarised "Europe has come to the fore in the referendum debate after academics raised serious questions over the SNP's timescale to declare independence after a Yes vote and the terms of the country's future membership of the EU".  The article has stirred debate on the Herald's website.

Professor Armstrong will also give oral evidence to the European and External Affairs Committee of the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 23 February. His written evidence to the Committee is published as a CELS Working Paper, which is available to download:
